Frequently asked questions
At Top End Line Markers, we’ve put together answers to some of our frequently asked questions, so you can understand the basics of road marking. If you have a question you don’t see answered here, don’t hesitate to contact us. Our team is happy to answer any questions you may have.
Yes, we can. Although most road markings are there for the long haul, in some instances they become redundant and need removing. Our team uses a dustless sandblaster to remove line markings from road projects. We find this process more efficient than grinding, sealing or blacking out lines. Grinding the surface can damage the asphalt, sealing the lines can be messy, and blacking out the lines can cause safety hazards as the reflective beads in the paint can still be seen at night.
Line marking paints will apply better if the surface is cleared of obstruction. We recommend sweeping the surface to clear away any debris, dirt, dust or litter, so that the applied coating is free from error. It’s ideal for the surface to remain clear while we are laying the markings.
No, they cannot. Road markings will not adhere to the surface properly in wet conditions, which defeats the purpose of applying them in the first place. The surface will need to be dry for us to mark the area sufficiently. In some instances, forced drying methods can be used however, they are not recommended.
